I HEART Pat!

I'm talking about makeup artist genius, Pat McGrath. Any woman that brings garbage bags of cosmetics (high end and drugstore finds) to haul to a fashion show could do my makeup anytime. Right next to the late, great Kevin Aucoin she is my next favorite!

She happens to also be creative director of Giorgio Armani Beauty, Dolce & Gabbana and Covergirl, yes Easy, Breezy, Covergirl!

This makes my BEAUTY BALLER ON A BUDGET heart happy!

I started to pay more attention to this drugstore staple when I discovered the woman behind this:

DIOR
Also brings you this at your local Walgreens:

A two-step cream stick to give you an easy smoky eye. This one is called Bronze Fire. I picked it because you can never go wrong with a great basic champagne/bronze brown duo.

(NC 42 skin)

Step 1:
Apply warm champagne shimmer to lid up to brow bone - I used a synthetic brush (MAC #252) to blend after I applied the stick directly to my skin.

Step 2:
Apply this bronzey brown to upper/bottom lash lines and also to your crease - taking the same synthetic brush I blended this into my crease. It worked surprisingly well - it was a wash of color. I took my MAC #219 pencil brush and smudged my bottom  lash line.

(This is right before I blended with the #252 brush into my crease/outer V)

Again, I bought this because I knew Pat's association to the brand, therefore I had to see what she can bring to the budget conscious customer.

Now, because the color I chose is relatively safe - it didn't really wow me but I am glad I tried it. I love how how this shade duo stick looks on Drew Barrymore but then again maybe I am just admiring fine Photoshop work?

And just like Gwen Stefani pushing L'Oreal lipstick to me - I gladly opened my wallet to try it out.

Will I run out and buy more colors? It pains me to say this but this is a FAIL for me - the champagne base color didn't even last a full three hours even on top of my fail proof primer (TFSI). I will keep this for weekends at the playground with my daughter. Also once the pointed tip of the liner/crease Step 2 sides wears down I won't be able to use it line my bottom lash line. I guess I could just use it as an easy weekend lid color.

If you like a barely there wash of color then by all means this is for you.

I also bought this as well in the very popular Hot shade that has received lots of press lately.
More to come on that color.

I purchased this at my local Walgreen's drugstore that was offering a Buy One, get the Second 50% special.

Retail price - $8.99/USD

i bought that smoky shadowblast. i loved it at first but i agree, doesn't last long. i'm curious about the new lipsticks but i'm hesitant just because i know it's going to have some yucky drugstore flavor.

  4. Yeah I will be testing that lipstick next but I'm a bit weary since it's a pretty bold, blue red!

Sadly, this smoky shadowblast will be going back - my local Walgreens is going to hate me haha!

  5. Hey...do you do nailpolish? I love cute painted toes, and with spring around the corner I'm loving the new palette. But I have never painted my fingernails. Maybe I just need the right guidance. Uhem...possible future post?

  6. Hey Shelbs - seriously? I do such a crappy job myself! I usually get mine done but when I'm seriously strapped for cash I will do my own - don't know if you want my advice.

But I do love a CHALLENGE!

  7. Not too expensive, not too long-lasting, and just a wash of color -- sounds right up my alley.

  8. Warning - it doesn't last that long at all. I don't know if it'll be worth it.
